11/16/2011 -First post on new family blog.
This blog was started on November 16, 2011. As of this day, The Crookston family is counting down the days until we board a airplane and fly to our new home, the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. So, I figured this was as good a time as any to launch a family blog.
For the next eight years, life is going to be… adventurous. Two years in St. Maarten, followed by two years in a yet unknown location somewhere in the U.S., Ireland, or UK while Carina does her clinical rotations. After that, four years someplace else while she does her residency.
By that time, Andi will be twenty-one (and married?), Tanner will be nineteen (and on a mission?), and Piper will be ten. Today they are thirteen, eleven, and two.
As I type, we are in the process of shutting down our life in St. Cloud where we’ve been for fourteen years. Bittersweet. But looking forward to new adventures.
– Casey
I just finished reading the blog. It’s beautifully done. Like you said in one posting, “bittersweet.” We are sooooo going to miss you guys, but we are so happy for your upcoming adventure and know that it will make you a stronger and happier family. What a wonderful thing to come together as a family to help Carina become a doctor! Then, think of the things Carina will do to help others. It’s just amazing!
Thanks for coming over tonight.
Thanks Win! You guys have been the best neighbors we ever could have hoped for. Thank you for everything. I really do hope you will seriously consider coming to visit us.
Casey- Is there a way to officially follow your blog?
Also, when you have time (stop laughing) will you let me know how I can set up a cool web site?
Thank you! You are awesome.
Rebecca =)
Hey Rebecca, on the right hand side about 1/4 down the page there is a link called, “Follow by Email”. That should do it. As for your website, call me. 320-230-2107. I am three hours behind you. (Noon your time is 3:00 pm my time)
Casey, I just discovered your blog and I think it’s wonderful! What a great way to not only keep your many friends and family up-to-date on your big adventure, but also keep a detailed and fun-to-read history of this amazing time in your family’s life. Your writing makes me feel almost as if I’m there with you – thank you so much for sharing your experiences! I’m looking forward to reading much more.
Hi Kim! Thanks for the note, and thank you for keeping in touch!
Thanks for your blog. We are also considering moving to St. Maarten for school, and your blog is really helping us to get the big picture of what we’re looking at (we’d be bringing 4 kids).
Do you think you could share (either publicly or privately) any budget information? LIke a typical month of rent/food/utilities/insurance/school/random?
Keep up the great blogging!
Hey David,
Thanks for the note! My personal email is caseycrookston@gmail.com. Send me an email and we can chat all about that stuff.
